DESCRIPTION:Entry is free to Gallery Exhibitions. GHT is open Thursday - Monday. About the exhibition Lies and Truth is an installation inspired by the film Labyrinth, made from a number of sculptural elements which can be put together in multiple configurations. This new body of work was made possible thanks to the Outside In and The Arts Society South Downs Dr Andrew Edney Artist Bursary scheme. “I’ve made elements of a labyrinth, inspired by the 1986 film of the same name. I wanted to create something quite large scale with play in perspective, size and dimensions as the films themes also play with those elements. So far I have: The project has been therapeutic and cathartic in many ways: I’ve learned more about why the film and the project have been such an obsession. My mind-scape is a confusing space with multiple directions and distractions. The labyrinth reflects me, and I learn more about myself each time I engage it.  I can relate with the disorientation of a staircase feeling like it’s about to disappear underneath my feet. The forgetting, the distractions, to hide within a fantasy. The lack of feeling in control. Until the end where she remembered “you have no power over me” and awareness that I give my power away in order to fit in. There’s hidden meaning in the words, the story and indeed the stage set it takes place in.”  This exhibition is supported by Outside In and The Arts Society South Downs. Access and Quiet Spaces This exhibition will take place in the Crawford Room at God’s House Tower. The Crawford Room does not have step free access. If you have concerns about your visit please visit the access page or get in touch with our team. The ground-floor bar and café at GHT have step-free access from Town Quay Road. For information on parking and travel, please visit our Plan your Visit page. Quiet Hours: Every Thursday morning from 10am – 12pm, lights will be dimmed and sound levels lowered. For the duration of this exhibition, the library will also be available as a quiet space. This space includes dimmed lighting, seating, quiet music, and water.
