And There It Was… For The Curious… is a fabulously fun, engaging and welcoming writing group that meets on the second Wednesday of the month.

At this inclusive and invigorating session writers and scribblers of all abilities are invited to use a range of prompts and techniques to create new poems, prose, monologues and much more.

A friendly place to meet other pen wielders and hone your trade in a celebration of language filled with creativity and humour, kindness and laughter. From stories told to a hip-hop beat to the Ballad of the Plumlord, you never know how inspiration is going to hit, so grab your pens, come in and join us!

For this special edition, we will absorb the history and mystery of Jane Austen’s travelling writing desk to see where it takes us! This could mean anything from writing love letters to Southampton to haikus about mystery ship tunes to short burst associative words or raps and ballads about cobbled streets and bollards. Who knows! Come and join us all you need to bring is your mind – everything else is provided.
