THIS IS NOT A FILM CLUB x Oxfam Music: May
Thursday, 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM
9th May 2024

At THIS IS NOT A FILM CLUB we let you vote for what you’d like to see. From lesser known independent productions to blockbuster films, our selection covers all tastes so you know you’ll find something you love to watch.
Join us in the bar area where we’ll be showing classic and much loved films OR head upstairs to find something a little lesser known and little more challenging.
This month we’re collaborating with Dead Good Days. ‘Dead Good Days’ host a variety of family friendly events, workshops and talks that will entertain, inform, intrigue and equip us all, to better deal with Death, Dying and Loss.
Death does happen to everyone – our family, colleagues, friends, teachers & of course, ourselves. It is not talked about much, unless it is actually happening, and then, not always. So this month, all of the films within the selection explore the themes of death, dying and loss.
You can cast your vote to decide what is shown in each room by filling in the poll – HERE
The voting will close a week before the event so don’t forget to check back!
You’ll find out what film you’ll be watching when you arrive and we’ll be asking viewers to rate the film as well as to contribute to a blind vote for next months viewing.
What to expect on the night
The doors to GHT will open at 6.30pm and the bar will be open for you to buy drinks and snacks. As (hopefully) you know, there have been 2 films to vote for and we’ll be showing the most popular from each; one in the cafe, one in the Crawford Room. In the Crawford Room you can expect a lesser known art house productions, and in the cafe some absolute classics. So when you arrive pick your vibe and make yourself at home!
As ever you’ll find out what films have won the vote when you arrive!
Access
Please note that unfortunately the Crawford Room does not have step free access. The cafe is totally step free from Town Quay Road.
The cafe extension will be used as a quiet space throughout the evening, with dimmed lighting and quiet music. Please use this space if for any reason you need to take a break.
What to bring
Wrap up warm as GHT can get a little cold at night. There will be plenty of chairs, beanbags and other seating available.
Tickets
We have very few tickets left so if you can no longer attend we’d really appreciate it if you could release your ticket so that we know how many people to expect. Please have your ticket ready when you arrive on the night for a member of the team to check at the front door.
This event is totally free to attend and we’ll be operating a ‘pay what you feel’ system at the end of the night. If you have a good night and can spare a few pounds we’d really appreciate it. All donations are welcome. You can also support by buying drinks and snacks at the bar! All funds raised will help us keep these events free and will help to build a community around these events of people who love good film!
