About the exhibition

Visit ‘Stories Behind the Stones’ where each floor of the Tower takes you on a journey through time. Discover centuries of history retold with immersive installations, fascinating displays and stunning rooftop views across Southampton Water.

‘Stories Behind the Stones’ shines a light on GHT’s dark past, from its creation as a purpose-built gun tower, to its eery time as one of England’s most dismal jails, and its present-day reincarnation as a truly inspirational venue with unrivalled views across the Southampton waterfront.

The exhibition features the work of Southampton artists who have interpreted GHT’s hidden and dark histories, bringing them to life with beautiful and sometimes unsettling installations.

How to book

You can purchase your ticket on arrival at the front desk at God’s House Tower.

All priced tickets include a voluntary £1 donation. This helps ‘a space’ arts to deliver its mission to support artists and help us keep our events and galleries free to attend. Please let a member of staff know if you would like to opt out.
