God's House Tower is only a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the High Street. GHT is located in the heart of Southampton’s Old Town, just a short distance from the historic Oxford Street and opposite Town Quay

Getting here

On foot

GHT is a 15 minute walk from West Quay and 20 minutes from Southampton Central Station and the Cultural Quarter. Follow the signs down the High Street to the 'Old Town' and you'll soon find GHT on the far left corner before Queen's Park.

On Train

The closest train station to GHT is Southampton Central, which is a key transport link to cities such as Portsmouth, London and Manchester. The station is also situated close to other transport links such as bus stops and a taxi rank. The station is around a 20 minute walk to GHT. To get to GHT, follow the route into the City Centre down the High Street towards Town Quay.

On Bus

GHT and Town Quay can be found on a number of bus routes including: U1, U6 and Quay Connect.

By car

Our closest car parks are Gloucester Square and Mayflower Park which are both a 2 minute walk away and privde a step free route to GHT. Further afield there are parking bays in Ocean Village and West Quay which are a 10 minute walk.

On bike

If you are cycling to GHT, you will find a bicycle rack on Lower Canal Walk next to the building, which you can use to lock up your bicycle.

Admission is free

Admission to the changing exhibitions and galleries, cafe, library is free. Admission to 'Stories Behind the Stones' and some events carry a separate charge.

Accessibility at GHT

The whole ground floor of GHT is fully accessible to those with limited mobility. We have accessible facilities available on the ground floor and a platform lift which services the Barker Mill Project Space and the Main Gallery. The Cafe & Bar is located on the ground floor and has a ramp available for any additional access needs. The Crawford Room is not accessible.

For any visitors with limited mobility who would like to experience Stories Behind The Stones, we have two VR headsets available in the cafe area which guide you through the tower level by level. You can reserve a headset ahead of your visit by emailing us at

Travelling with a group?
