We’d like to share just some of the exciting plans we have for what we hope will be a more positive, more collaborative and more artistic year.
At ‘a space’ we have made some changes to the way we deliver our programmes, how we run GHT and how the ‘a space’ team is structured. This allows us to move forward into 2021 with confidence, fully able to deliver our mission of supporting Southampton artists and audiences in a post-Covid world.
We have revised our mission statement, and having reflected on global events in 2020, are now committed to becoming an anti-racist organisation. Please read our statement here.
We are working towards reopening GHT – but please bear with us as we take all the necessary precautions before announcing a firm date. We are developing a new project-based programme for the venue, which takes into consideration social distancing, as well as our mission to work with more of Southampton’s many diverse communities. Please sign up to the GHT mailing list and keep an eye on our social media channels to learn more about this and to hear when we will reopen.
The RIPE programme continues to grow, and will soon have it’s own web page. For now you can keep up-to-date via the ‘a space’ website or RIPE on Instagram. Please help us support this growing group of fine art graduates, who are turning a forgotten part of Southampton into an exciting new artist hub. You can see the latest exhibition here (or take a walk down Old Northam Road and see it IRL!).
The ‘a space’ team has been restructured so that we are now able to work more collaboratively together. To find out who to contact please visit the staff page.
As you may already know, ‘a space’ arts is a conduit for visual artists’ voices to the City of Culture bid team, and we are looking forward to continuing this ambitious journey in 2021.
We are very excited about our plans for this year, and can’t wait to share them with you. Please continue to follow us on social media and to share our news with your friends.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
With thanks for your continued support,
‘a space’ arts
