Introducing our Young Producers

Meet our young producers!

Earlier this year, we shared a call-out for Young Producers to develop a late-night event as part of Heritage Open Days New Wave project and we’re delighted to introduce our fantastic young creatives, George and Max.

The New Wave project aims to attract audiences aged 18-34 to heritage venues across the uk and the young producers have been developing a range of exciting ideas that challenge the traditional landscape of heritage events, considering how we can encourage engagement with a younger audience at God’s House Tower. As the second year of New Wave, we are one of a small selection of venues throughout the UK taking part in the project and providing vital opportunities for creative growth and development for young creatives as they look to build a career within the arts sector.

With our young producers are at varying stages of their creative careers, we are really enjoying seeing the dynamic between the two as the project develops. George has a background in production and as a playwright, having worked for Chichester FT, London Playwright’s Workshop and has recently launched his own production company ChewBoy whilst Max is a college student and fine artist in the early stages of his practice.

On becoming a young producer George said “I’m buzzing to be part of the New Wave project. To create a brand new event for young people in the area is such an exciting privilege to have, and I feel so lucky to be able to collaborate with such a wonderful team at GHT. I feel like as part of this project, I can finally create the kind of work I’ve always wanted to through producing events that I’ve always wanted to attend myself! Very fortunate to have this opportunity, and can’t wait to see what we create.”

Creative Programmes Officer Mia added “We’re thrilled to be able to offer an opportunity such as the Young Producer role to creatives who are starting out in their careers. It’s great to see them take the lead and develop their skills professionally and we’re really looking forward to seeing how they reimagine the God’s House Tower space”

Make sure you follow GHT and our young producers on social media where we’ll be sharing updates on the project ahead of the big event this September
