About the Exhibition

The Air Data Scape multi-media group exhibition revolves around air pollution in Southampton. Artworks were made by collecting air pollution data during the Southampton Marathon on 3rd May 2026 and various local walks on 19th May 2026. Since air pollution is invisible to the human eye, four artists, Atsuhide Ito, Aster Cook, Sian Chungh, and Agalya Kumaraguruparasharma in their singular ways “translate” scientific data into aesthetic experiences. Combining citizen-science methods to collect air pollution data and critical and yet humorous or sometimes haunting language, air pollution is turned into a new artistic experience.
