About the exhibition:
Telling My Story: From Darkness to Light is an exhibition of artwork by clients of Yellow Door – a Southampton based charity providing essential support to primarily not exclusively, people who have experienced or are at risk of interpersonal harm.
Featuring paintings, drawings, sculptures, poetry, and written word, this empowering collection illustrates a client’s journey of bravery, resilience, and transformation.
Each piece has been created whilst receiving support from Yellow Door and reflects the incredible strength of each individual—an uplifting step toward reclaiming identity, voice, and power.
This exhibition forms part of Yellow Doors 40th Anniversary and brings trauma survivors’ experiences to life through their own creative expression—inviting the public into a space of hope, empathy, and connection. Witness the light emerging from darkness and be inspired to join the journey towards open dialogue, empathy, and change.
About the Artists:
The artists exhibiting are all previous clients of Yellow Door.
About Yellow Door:
Yellow Door is an innovative local organisation offering trauma informed, evidence-based support for people of all ages and genders who are at risk of domestic and sexual abuse.
Starting 40 years ago as a small volunteer-led helpline for women that had been raped or sexually assaulted, they now provide a range of therapeutic and educational services to children, young people, adults and families, which aim to raise awareness, prevent abuse, reduce harm, empower and support recovery, and help to rebuild lives.
