How To Hear Yourself
Organizer's other eventsHosted by How To Hear Yourself (founded by Sara Borrington), this relaxed creative workshop explores rap, lyric writing and spoken word as tools for self-expression, confidence and emotional exploration.
A relaxed, 2-hour creative workshop using rap, lyric writing and spoken word as tools for self-expression, confidence and emotional exploration. Through guided prompts, listening exercises and creative activities, participants will explore how thoughts, feelings and personal experiences can be transformed into words, rhythm and creative voice.
The workshop is designed to be low-pressure, inclusive and accessible to everyone, no previous writing or music experience is needed. The focus is on creativity, reflection and experimentation rather than performance or perfection.
Participants will have the opportunity to develop lyric ideas, experiment with flow and rhythm, build confidence in self-expression, and connect with others through creativity in a supportive environment.
Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook if they have one, although paper and writing materials can also be provided.
Access and Quiet Spaces
This workshop is taking place in the Cafe Extension at God’s House Tower. Access to the cafe extension is step free Lower Canal Walk and there is a ramp available should you need it to access the cafe, toilets and rest of the building. The courtyard also has step free access from the corner of Lower Canal Walk and Town Quay road.
GHT is a 25-minute walk from Southampton Central Train station and is on a number of local bus routes. Our closest car parks are Gloucester Square and Mayflower park. This part of the city can get very busy with traffic from the cruise ship terminals at this time of year so please do allow for extra time if you’re driving.
For information on parking and travel please visit the Plan Your Visit page of our website.
If you’d like to familiarise yourself before your visit you can take a virtual tour of the spaces on our website. You’ll also find a visual story so that you know what to expect and how to identify members of the GHT Team.
Do you have any access requirements? We are happy to discuss individual access needs wherever possible. Please email enquiries@aspacearts.org.uk
