Join us for a relaxed, confidence-boosting session where we’ll create a small handmade zine (a tiny folded book) from scratch. You’ll learn how to fold your own zine, share a selection of inspiring examples from Kama’s personal collection, and be guided through fun, low-pressure drawing prompts to fill your pages. This is all about creativity over perfection.

All ages are welcome and you’ll leave the session with your own finished zine to take home
This is a “you can draw” space — designed to help you loosen up, let go of perfectionism, and enjoy making marks on paper, even if you’ve never drawn before.

Price: Pay what you feel. Book your place here

About Kama Mielczarek ‘Weird is the Best’

Kama is a multi-faceted artist living in Southampton. In her work she uses many mediums to produce a wide range of products, from illustration, comics and zines, to stationery and original paintings. Kama brings together humour and an awe of nature to make works which are distinctly uplifting and joyful.

Kama is part of our new Artist Shop Cohort. This year’s shop features nine Hampshire-based artists working across a wide range of mediums and styles. Over the next nine months, audiences will be able to purchase the artists’ work and take part in workshops and events, learning directly from the artists themselves.

What to expect at this workshop:

Workshops in the Cafe Extension: Access to the cafe extension is also step free and there is a ramp available should you need it to access the cafe, toilets and rest of the building. The courtyard has step free access from the corner of lower canal walk and town quay road.

Getting Here: GHT is a 25-minute walk from Southampton Central Train station and is on a number of local bus routes. Our closest car parks are Gloucester Square and Mayflower park. This part of the city can get very busy with traffic from the cruise ship terminals on Saturdays so please do allow for extra time if you’re driving.
